it's been a little while huh?

i'm thinking that one of my new year's resolutions will be to be more vigilant with my blog posts. seriously.

the year is coming to a close and i cannot believe that it will be 2014 already. i thought it would be fun to post some of my favorite images here that i've done for my 365.  i decided to start with a few that you haven't seen here before, so here they are in no real particular order...

why hello there!! glad you could visit!!

let me catch you up to date on all of the shenanigans going on over here in our neck of the woods. oh and just an fyi, i love the word shenanigans.

not too long ago, my husband and i looked at each other and decided to cut down our very own christmas tree. you know, the great outdoors? really roughing it in the elements...just like the people of yore, or olden times, or our forefathers, or…heck you get the idea. anyway, we drove out to a farm and trudged around in the mud (it had rained like the dickens the night before, there were puddles everywhere) and looked around for our tree. it took us a while. tears were shed (hey, don't look at me like that…it was COLD and WET and those were my favorite boots people!!!), but we found our tree!!! wahoo!!

anyway…

as many of you know, my picture taking is centered around my kids. i recently branched out a bit and took some shots for a friend and her family. here are a few that i'd love to share with you...

a day in the life | november edition

a few weeks ago, i was asked if i wanted to join a blog circle with some crazy talented ladies. i immediately said yes because, well, it would be like if paul mccartney contacted me and said "hey jenn, ringo can't play tonight….would you like to give it a whirl?" i mean, who could say no to that??? we decided on the the idea of a monthly "day in the life" post and i'm pretty sure that my pulse rate shot through the roof for a few seconds. i mean, i love my kids, but holy moly after a half hour of taking their picture, i'm spent. this would involve a whole day! 24 hours! 1440 minutes! 86400 seconds! that's a LOT of time to try and chase them around and/or beg them for a shot or two. was i up for the challenge??
i decided to go for it and documented our day this past sunday. the husband was working that morning and afternoon and we decided to join him for a bit in DC later on. so, basically, it was me trying to take pictures and actually get them ready, fed, and out the door without having a nervous breakdown. did my kids listen, without me having to repeat myself a million times?? ohhhh no. did i learn some things about documenting an entire day?? ohhhh yes. for one, remember to take pictures at the restaurant during dinner instead of totally forgetting my camera in my bag. sheesh.
